New layout?
Heya Eldar, Jake here, I just downloaded the 1.535 update and am having an issue with the new layout. On 1.533 there was a drop down box just under the Machine drop down box to pick the tool library you wanted to search tools from. Then at the top of the Tool Data section there was another drop down box where you picked the actual tool you were using. In 1.535 both of these drop downs are gone and the only way to bring up a specific tool that I have saved is by hitting "load tool/cut". Is there any way you can bring back the old style of loading tools? It's workable the way it is in the update but I have been using the software long enough now that I am quite set in my ways. Otherwise I love the new dark theme and style of the layout, thanks for the continuing updates. Thanks! Jake Jones

Hello, I am glad you like the new color theme. I removed the old Tool Drop-down because it was a constant source of problems and bugs for me. Besides it was supposed to be replaced by the Load Tool/Cut dialog log time ago.... Please work with me on this one. The Load Tool/Cut provides more options and IMO is easier to use:
- Can load not only Tools but Cuts as well
- Can filter tools out by type and coating
- Can view tools from all libraries or a last used library or any single library
- A side tree allows to very quickly drill down to a particular tool type configuration (see screenshot)
- Can copy tools using right mouse click menu
- Loads as fast, but does not take any space and does not create clutter on the Speeds and Feeds page
Basically the only real difference is that it has more options and is a separate window. If you consider it simply takes a double-click to load the tool/cut, then it is exactly the same workflow as previous drop-down.... Please tell me what you are missing, or what exactly is bothering you and i will find a solution to that. Best regards.ndlsjk
Eldar, I will work with the new interface and I'm sure it will become second nature eventually. It was just quicker (for me!) to switch between different end mills by typing in a diameter in a box and having it come up, rather than opening a separate dialogue each and every time. I don't save many cuts, every part I make is different enough that I am recalculating depths/widths no matter what. Give it a few days and it will be the "normal" way of doing it, just seemed like something was missing when I first started using it today. Thanks for the quick reply, Jake

Jake, I know what you mean now. Totally missed the fact that it was indeed faster search for the tool from the drop-down box..... I will make that form accept input from the keyboard directly into its search field, so that it can filter the results for you. This way you just click on the [Load Tool/Cut] button and start typing something, the dialog will capture it ind filter the tools out for you. In the end it will mean exactly the same number of actions you would need to perform as before. I will add it in the next update. Thank you for the feedback! EDIT: For now you can also hit TAB to switch to search field and start typing to filter the tools out ;)

Hi, Just an update: The latest release has much improved Load Tool/Cut workflow. You can now open this window with Ctrl+L and use keyboard to selectand load tools. If you start typing while the table is focused, the search will activate. While in the search field, you can use up and down keyboard keys to go back to the table and select your tool with Enter key. Thank you for the feedback. Best regards.
