Creating new machine - AvidCNC
hello,
i hope this finds you well. i just purchased your program and am about a year into using our 4'x8' AvidCNC https://avidcnc.com/ machine in our cabinet shop. 99% of the time we use our machine to cutout cabinet parts out of 3/4" plywood that is coated on both sides with a UV protector.
A few questions in setting up my machine in hsmadvisor:
1) I wanted to see the correct way to setup the Power Curve chart for my machine. The spindle I have is here https://www.avidcnc.com/dl/cad.pdf/4hp_spindle_29L0498858F_specs.pdf I'm not familiar with these charts and am not quite sure what values I should be entering into the program.
2) Where do I get the Max Tap RPM and Max cutting force values from?
3) Tool library - is there anywhere I can download the tool library for Vortex? If not, do you have any example of a spiral compression bit that someone has setup I could look at?
Thank you for your help! I am excited to use this tool to improve our work.

Hello and thank you for your purchase!
I went ahead and created a machine profile for your spindle:
"Hiteco Electrospindle 3kW 6000–24000rpm (S-1 3/18 24 ER20 DX CC BT)"
You can find and download it from the HSMAdvisor Cloud Services located on the Machine Profile dialog.
Power Curve Chart
This chart shows the power your spindle produces at different RPMs. The one I uploaded includes a simplified curve based on the specs from your spindle's datasheet. If you’d ever like to tweak it based on real-world testing, you can absolutely do that too.

Tool Library / Vortex & Compression Bits
There isn’t an official downloadable tool library for Vortex that I know of, but you can create your own profiles fairly easily. For router bits—especially spiral compression bits used for plywood—I recommend setting them up as HP (Roughing) End Mills in the tool library. These are best suited for purpose-built tools like yours.
Please check the picture I’ve attached to this message for an example of how to create a tool profile:

Let me know if you have more questions or want help setting up additional tools. I'm happy to help however I can!
Best regards.
