Version 1.409 Reamer Calculations
Greetings Eldar, I hope this post finds you well and things are rosy in your part of the world. Things are going well for me, busy as all get out (and making a small fortune thanks to your calculator and a brand new VF2). Anywho, I was posting this to let you know that the reamer calculations do not seem to be working properly. In aluminum HSMA suggests 300sfm however the RPM it suggests does not match. Not a huge deal, can always just rule of thumb it (half speed, twice feed) or use the surface speed rather than RPM but figured you'd want to update it. If it is working and I'm just being a dunce let me know and I'll figure it out. Thanks a bunch! Jake Jones

Hi, I just checked the numbers and everything seems just perfect. Perhaps you are using a very small dia tool and its RPM is hitting the machine limit? Any way. If you still think something is wrong, please upload a screenshot with the numbers you expect to see. Best Regards.:meditate:

Eldar, I've questioned reaming output correctness as well, example 1/4" HSS reamer in 6061-T6 showing 6000 rpm(machine max)and feed of 72 ipm Ken

Eldar, Below are 2 screenshots showing the difference between my Mastercam (with 300sfm entered) and the difference in RPM that is calculated in HSMA. Material 6061-T6 Aluminum Machine: 2015 Haas VF2, 2spd gearbox, max RPM 8100 Tool: 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 HSS Chucking reamer Software: Mastercam 2017, HSMA Over the course of 13 seperate programs I have all of the reamers using RPM (obviously different SFM, however they were all supposed to be 300sfm) and the feedrate based on the IPT. This worked fine and the ratio of speed to feed was still okay and it definitely wasn't hitting the RPM limit of the machine. I clicked the box to reset, restarted, typed in different values, nothing would make the calculation come out correct. Now that I have noticed I can just use the SFM data instead of the RPM, and its not a big deal, I just thought it was kind of weird. Let me know if you need more.

1.411 looks per book Eldar. Question, is there a difference in RPM for chucking reamers over machine reamers? Ken
