How does depth of cut affect feed rate calculation ?

Hi, when DOC is increased, calculator reduces the feed rate. Eg.6061-T6 8mm 1fl carbide 45deg length:35mm flute-length:22mm WOC:0.5mm maxrpm:24K HSM:enabled DOC:10mm feed:7280 DOC:20mm feed:3640 above 8mm DOC (tool dia), feed start to drop off, maintaining constant MRR/power/torque. Would higher feed rates break the tool (increase in torque/deflection)? Great tool, btw :) Regards, Mihael

Hi, Yes, higher feedrate will increase the deflection. And yes. At some point it will lead to something breaking. The online calc tries to maintain the same deflection on the cutter regardless of its length thus playing it very safe. My other calcs like HSMAdvisor allow to sacrifice deflection for better MRR because they consider how much tool can deflect before snapping. Regards.
