Drilling calculator??

HI, i was wondering if this could not be added to this very nice program . Drilling calculator, using drill or milling cutter, feed and speed calculator / plunge speed + eventually peck drilling advice/ . That question comes as these days i have to start drilling on my cnc sth like 15000 3mm holes in brass, 8mm deep and i would like to optimise the job. I was doing that in aluminum before so i have optimised it for soft aluminum, but now have to speed up the things. I think it's a good idea, tick a box "drilling", which situated at the "CUT DATA" window. So, all is same everywhere else except extra peck drilling box activates somewhere. What you say?

Hi, I do not completely follow you..... There is already lots of drilling tools types there. And even milling has suggested plunge feed Am I missing something?

Sorry :costumed-smiley-005: Could not find it before, now i see about the types of tools. So i choose my saved tool and just change the type for " straight flute for hard metals", right?

You can. But you can also dial in a brand new tool as well. Click Reset button and select your tool type and geometry. A screenshot might help me understand what exactly you are trying to accomplish. You can upload it right here. Regards.

I did it just changing the type of tool to " straight flute for hard metals" and used the data. By the way it went really smooth and i drill now 15x3mm x 8mm deep holes in brass for less than 20 seconds. Incredible for a DIY situation i think. So the only thing was that i was not aware of the drilling cap[abilities of the program. Simply cause i have no time to play much with it. What i was saying was a suggestion to put a drill tick box, so when ticked it send you to the drill screen and automatically calculates drill speeds for the loaded milling cutter, without need of changing the type of tool.

Where to put the drill box drill box.PNG the way i did it changing type of tool drill box 2.PNG

Thank you for the video and screenshots! I now realize what you wanted to do. There is Plunging Speed and Feed for End Mills on Speeds and Feeds panel. You need to expand it by clicking the arrow. Feeds suggested there will be more moderate than when using drilling tool types. But it also considers the Stepover (woc) Let me know if that would work for you as well. Regards. :ernaehrung004:

I see. For the moment the drilling speeds work better/faster without any problem. I even pushed things 30% more without any problem. Which honestly surprised me and an experienced machinist friend visiting me yesterday. I couldn't help but start bragging how good HSMAdvisor is and recommend it to him
