Only .0012 in. chip load for wood?

Did f/s for a profile and get ~ .001 chipload for various cutters and parameters. Seems awfully low for wood. Setup below; I don't see any other limiting factors that should make it so low.

Forgot to mention that while looking at router spindles I saw chip loads more like .010 in.

Noah, That's a pretty stout machine why not set up the RPM to it's maximum of 4200 that will increase chip load and also set the <S>peed / <F>eed adjustment to 100% that gives here cl of .00424 at 35.57ipm

Machine is new to me and speed dial turns red at 2900, so will make sure lube and everything is right before pushing it. Anyway increasing rpm just increases feedrate, cl stays the same. But I see that moving the feed slider to 100 does give me that .0042 cl. I don't get how the speed slider works; if I make it 100 it increases the rpm in the S/F box to 4200, but if I change it there back to 2900 the speed slider moves itself down to 10. Maybe that means along with the other settings 29k rpm would be ok?

Yes that is exactly it. Your RPM is limited by your max. spindle speed. So Speed Override slide will show 100%, while in fact your actual cutting speed is, for example 29% of the recommended one. But when you ser RPM directly, Speed override will adjust to whever perventage that works out to be. May seem confusing at first, but thats the best way i found. Regarding chipload, 100% Feed override is default. So if you set it to 100% you will surely get higher chipload. Whenever something is limited you will get a warning on "Warnings" tab on the right. Regards.

My brain is fading so I'm going try to digest that later. What about the chip load question? I appreciate your prompt handling of my questions, and I have to say I marvel at how you can be so accomplished at programming AND machining.

Thanks! Just set "F" slider to 100% to get recommended chip load. Computer programming is my hobby and cnc machining/programming is my work. Everything you see here has been coded by me personally. This is the house that i have built. Also. Ken, thank you for pitching in to the discussions! Your feedback and help have been always very appreciated.
