Holly cupcakes!! thats alot of suggestions!! I like the format, so i will reply in the same structured maner. Interface: 1) It is possible to set WOC by percentage or Engagement Angle right now- all you have to do is enter the value and then hit ENTER For different (mostry rounding) issues "backwards" fields require you to hit ENTER key to apply the value. 2)I have planned for that behaviour (material gets saved with the tool) but now i am re-writing the whole thig again. basically tool will only contain physical tool data, everything else will go to CUT. 3)you can set SFM, RPM, IPT and Feedrate directly again by enterig the value and hitting ENTER key to apply it. 4)Eventually i will add materials above 60RC, but seing how often people use anything above 50 on my online verision makes me think this is not a high priority:) Suggestions: 5)Tool library IS saved as XML file already. Importing tool library from outside hovever implies complex relations solving between different things, it can and will be done somwhere down the road. 6)Taps is actually the very next thing i am going to start after i prepare release 0.020 I am more looking towards drill sizes and such. 7)There is already chip thickening calculation performed for thread milling, i keep forgerring to enable it for all milling operations though. Thanks for reminding! 8)Global input,,,, i was actually thinking about that in a very distant future. But the simple thought of trying to implement it having the amount of free time i have on my hands scares me. 9)Help is appreciated whats is your speciality? 10) 8) a couple of more posts like that and you ll get it for sure. You do realize i am reluctant to give it right away to keep you posting here? Some people surely will get their keys, but i kind of want to keep them interested for a little longer than 5 days ;) Currently everybody is getting it for free with updates and i bet its a very good deal :) Tanks !
1- ahhh hit ENTER. Guess im just to used to using TAB....perhaps both could be valid to enter data? 4- I must be the only one who has to cut 62Rc A2 and D2! lol no biggie, the hardox you have gets me close enough 9- I consider myself a veteran machinist/cnc programmer and a rookie computer programmer (VB). 10- I understand what you need from us, don't worry Ill be giving you tons of ideas. Not sure if you have plans on goint to a full scale 'real' mobile app but I think this is where you really need to focus. People want access to information anywhere at anytime, and they want the interface to be top notch. Imagine selling a licence to a shop that enables all machinists to have a paid app like this on their phone or tablet . Its honestly not to far off, soon, gone will be prints. We'll all be walking around with tablets that contain all our prints and relevant documents. Much easier to keep track of revisions and in process ops that way. Like I said, Im a rookie computer programmer and Id like to take a step up that ladder. ps...how bout a vbulletin board! lol

Well, i quickly whipped up this control to post text more conveniently. To be honest i don't really like those WHYSIWIG editors anyway. I am too busy right now to try to include vB board into this site. Right now people who registered on the site can use forums without any additional registration. Regarding mobile app...... I am not sure where trend is going right now. Say i am a machinist. But i program on computer, because fat-fingering numbers at control is too old school for me. Old schoolers are less likely to try to drag their ipad into the shop to make any calculations. Plus there is no CAD/CAM coming out for mobile platforms any time soon..... I don't know really. I will get the standalone version out of the door first. Then i will look if i should continue developing online version the way it is, or do something else with it. Besides i bet all the iPads in the shop in the future will have 5G internet by then and there will be no reason to develop separate app for 10 different platforms- one mobile app hosted on my server will do. I program in VB.NET as well... Regrading point #1, TAB can not replace ENTER in my case. TAB causes focus to leave the field- same like when you select text in a field to copy it. Then program does not know whether you wanted to just leave the field, or overwrite it. and change a bunch of parameters as well..or something like that.... Long story short- ENTER stays for now. Doh i spent the whole night coding this post form and did little to none of actual work!:hammer3: Bye.

Oh BTW version 0.020 is out... Oh BTW i very much need feedback on how actual bread and butter of my software is working. Does anybody notice patterns that should require attention, some values to tweak and so forth? Like you mike, at what parameters do you run >60RC steels. I only did it few times and tool life didn't matter there- was one tool for one part kind of thing. So i did not collect any actual cutting data i could use.
