Depth of cut, single point threading
Hi all just found this app and forum , I am not a machinist I was a coach builder before retiring now a service, repair and restore antique clocks , quite often I have to make parts and amongst them odd ball screws and the more common Thury, BA, and the not so common Lowenherz and if I haven't got the correct thread plate then the only option is single point thread cutting but what I have a problem with is depth of cut , I was hoping that this app would have something that could help but unless I am missing something it hasn't, I am sure there must be a formula for it somewhere and I seem to remember it being something like so many times the pitch , is there a bit on the app to help ? Thanks Dell

Have you figured this out? Maybe just use the amount traveled in 1 full revolution of the thread(Pitch, TPI). I've always just used G91 with G3orG4, R value instead of I,J and the thread pitch as a Z positive or negative.

Hi, Hsmadvisor app does not provide info for custom threads like that. All threads are available on the Threads tab and include only ISO, UNC, UNF types.
