Dry vs wet SFM

New to hsmadvisor been having decent luck with it but was wondering if the sfm is based on wet or dry cutting . Most of the time I have to cut the sfm down by 50% or so to get good tool life in im using coolant but have found chupload to be pretty accurate. Thanks !

Hi, The SFM is recommemded based on Ideal conditions. Which means for example for Aluminum and Gummy Stainless coolant is expected. Also coolant is expected for all HSS tools. I had plans to incorporate coolant into the equation, but was unable to reliably get proper recommendations. There is always exception to rules. Please check this guide for details: https://hsmadvisor.com/?page=help&shell_id=241&article_id=4431_tool-material-and-coating-application-guide
