High Feed End Mill feed and speeds
Hello, I am using HSMA to get the speed and feeds for a high feed end mill in HSMAdvisor. I put the tool geometry in, chose High Feed End Mill and chose the correct specs for the end mill. But when I check chip thinning, it doesn't appear to be calculating or applying axial chip thinning. I plugged the same tool, material and parameters into FSWizard and I get 5.7 as the axial chip thinning for the comparable cut. Can you advise? Ryan.

Hi, Can you attach a screenshot with the tool information box expanded, so I can see all the fields? The issue lies in either incorrect lead angle (should be below 25deg), or some other incorrect value that makes HSMAdvisor think it's not really a High Feed Mill.

Hi Eldar, Right before I left work I e-mailed you the screen shot, then I tinkered with the settings some more, and I found the issue has something to do with the corner radius. I am at home and the screenshot is on my work computer. Feel free to post the screen shot or any of the e-mails here if you want to document it in this forum. -Ryan

Here is the screen shot from yesterday. I changed the Corner radius to zero on the geometry and the Feeds and Speeds agreed with FS Wizard, and the feeds and speeds were comparable to to other brands manufacturers recommendations.

Hi, I am glad you figured it out. For the future I suggest verifying the tool you are entering looks like your actual tool using the Tool Display tab. It will give you an idea what geometry value is broken or invalid. Best regards.
