Thread milling

Hello, i am really glad to hear from you. I see you are using the online tool quite a bit. > That is in fact an exelent question! Honestly I never thought of that before. There is turning coming in next for Standlaone, and then i was planning to add turning to the online version as well. Its getting hard to keep up with both versions though. Since you asked i have a couple of questions for you. 1)Are you mostly using Online version?    If you are using online, will you be more interested in using a windows standalone instead?  2)What kind of data will you be expecting to put into threading tool... Diameter, pitch, etc. please list all of the values you think are of concern. 3)What kind of data you expect to get as a result. Will it be Only speed/Feed or helix diameter/radius,  or something like that? If you can help me answer those questions, i could throw something together real quick and you could test it out in the online version ;) Thanks for your interest

Hello, I am using the online version only, I might be interested in the standalone, I'll have to give it a try. here is a link to a webpage that describes the thread mills we use. http://www.sct-usa.com/main.asp We use the single profile solid carbide threadmills so we are able to cut UN and Metric.   Info in:  cutting dia. shank dia. shank length overhang DOC I guess the main purpose will be to better understand feeds and speeds when changing from aluminum (which is what we cut primarily) to steel and plastics.  Right now we usually take 2 passs (in aluminum) to complete a thread starting form the bottom of the hole and working to the top. thanks for your hard work on this site.  I use it almost everyday

Hi, Kennis. I belive the majority of work on threading tool type is done. Take it for a a spin and tell me what you think. Do you think i need to add something else to it? And tell me how well the results match with real-world numbers. PS: i know you asked for DOC but i didn't put it in. Also overhang and flute length are useless without user defining a whole lot of parameters regarding actual pitch, and pilot hole diameter. It can be added and it could give slightly better results, BUT most people will not care to put correct values and stuff will get screwed up. PPS: i made Major Diameter field mandatory. Also pay attention to Internal/External switch
