HSMAdvisor 2.4.0
The latest version of HSMAdvisor is available on the Downloads page:
https://hsmadvisor.com/?page=Download
It has a couple of big improvements, such as improved feeds for endmills smaller than 1/2" in diameter. Tool display now more accurately shows how HSMAdvisor perceives your radiused tool and material engagement.
Also fixed a problem with the Scallop Calculator. It now doesn't affect the DOC, but only sets your WOC to whatever stepover you calculated.
Huge thanks to everybody who made suggestions, reported issues, and even simply asked questions!
Cheers!
3D Printed Enclosure for Touchscreen CNC Control
Since my garage/shop has a limited workspace, I have long wanted to upgrade the big and clumsy computer I used to drive my little Prolight desktop CNC to something more elegant and convenient.
TL;DR: You can read about the printing settings and download files on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4754968
Here is the shared Fusion Project: https://a360.co/36UhI15
After quite a bit of googling, and testing the UCCNC control software that i already have I decided to re-use my old Z83 mini-PC with Intel Atom processor.
Then I ordered a SunFounter 10.1" touchscreen monitor with a nice resolution of 1200x800 from amazon.
Since the display does not come with an enclosure I decided to design one myself.
A good opportunity to dust off my 3d modeling skills:
First real project almost done!
Machined this 2-piece utility knife on my ProLIGHT2000 benchtop CNC.
Just one little lock left!

HSMAdvisor and 3rd-party Tool Libraries
It only recently occurred to me that since the introduction of the HSMWorks Tool Library import feature, HSMAdvisor users can import all kinds of libraries designed for F360!
Thanks to the popularity of F360, many tool manufacturers offer their stock in Fusion format.
You can see and download them all from here:
https://cam.autodesk.com/hsmtools
You can download and import the .hsmlib file you need into HSMAdvisor using the Tool Database ->Actions->Import->Import HSMWorks Tool Database menu.
For example, Harvey offers HSMWorks Tool Libraries for all of their tools over here:
https://cam.autodesk.com/hsmtools?p=%20Harvey%20Tool&utm_source=Pardot&utm_medium=Redirect&utm_content=Harvey_Fusion&utm_campaign=CAM_Tool_Libraries
I tried it with their endmill database.
It is huge, contains about 16 thousand tools, and rendering all of them on the same page takes about 10 seconds on my computer.
It is not too bad, though, since you can use filters to limit the number of displayed tools and find the one you need faster.
Perhaps I should include the ability to download them directly into HSMAdvisor without having to go to the website?
Let me know what you think about it!

FSWizard Machinist Speed and Feed App Update!
After more than a year in development and having its entire code base rewritten FSWizard Android app has finally been released to production!
The main goal of the initial production release was to not drop the ball. So the number of new features is relatively small.
The biggest visible improvement is the new design that conforms to the mobile UI standards.
We also support more materials in the lite version of the app than ever:
For HSMAdvisor customers all the available materials will be downloaded after the Login.
Another improvement is the sliding Speed and Feed overrides that are now located not only on the usual Overrides panel, but also on the Result panel:
This allows you to see the effect your changes make in the real time.
The new version of the app also allows to push immediate updates and hot fixes.
So expect a lot of new features delivered to you faster.
As you might have guessed I did not re-design the whole app just to add a couple of new sliders and a new design.
My plans is to fully integrate FSWizard with HSMAdvisor having them exchange tool libraries and cutting data.
Ant the core design changes that i made will allow for this work to proceed forward.
New FSWizard. Check it out if you have not already!
PS. for now the update is only available for Lite Android version of the app. FSWizard PRO Android and all version for iOS are still sporting old version. But I expect to update them within a week as well.
