I have just uploaded a latest release of HSMAdvisor v0.801.

In this update i only added a few calculators to the new Reference Tab.

Lets review all those calculators here.
And since i last time got repremended by mr rlockwood for making my post too long and dry, i will spice it up with a ton of pictures and even a download link. BTW you can download the updated version over here http://hsmadvisor.com/index.php?page=Download

There are 3 new calculators.

Those are:

• Scientific Calc -a child of my labor over this weekend.
  The standard Windows calc was driving me crazy with its small buttons, so i whipped up this one. Maybe later i will make it a separate pop-up window or something
• Drll Point Calc - a handy tool that allows to calculate depth required to make a countersink of set angle, and tip flat size
• Partial Bolt Hole Calc- allows to find location of equally spaced holes laying on an ark.

This update resets your trial counter back to "30 days left", so if your old trial expired, you can use it for one month more.

First of all, I put all of the available overrides on plain sight. Now you do not need to expand a panel to access speed/feed overrides.

I also added cutting speed and chipload to the collapsed view.

Machine Panel now has  Max RPM on collapsed view.

Gages panel now is not expandable and has

I have long wanted to update HSMAdvisor Screenshots page

It has finally been done and now it includes the list of all features too.

Check it out, you may find things in there you did not even know about ;)

I have just completed revising HSMAdvisor's material library.

Around 20 different materials have been added.
Some speeds and feeds were adjusted as well.

New library is not yet available in the official release, but you cen get it as a separate file from here

Just scroll to the bottom of the page there and download the file.
Instructions of how to use it are there as well.

Once a new update is ready to be published i will include the new library into the official release.

The list of added materials includes Toolox, Weldox and other pre-hardened steels.

Also graphite was added to hard non-metals.

I was originally going to introduce new License types on september the 1st.

But it turned out to be a little harder than i thought and everything got delayed by almost one month.

The revised date of september the 30th is still standing though.

So until then 3 seat license will still be available for 75$ and a new single seat will be available for just 49$ !!!

Some time ago an unknown colleague had borrowed an end mill from me.

Have i had been there i would have stressed that it was aluminum specific cutter and that it should not be used on steel.
Unfortunately i was not and it did not occur to him to ask somebody who would have known better.

Next time i look into my drawer i see this.(first picture)

Now we have a tool and cutter grinder to sharpen the OD of an end mill, but chips were so big, i would have to grind off maybe 20 thou of the diameter on order to get rid of them.

Our TC grinder does not allow to re-flute end mills, so i had to do it holding end mill in my hands.

First i picked up correct angle, and then i slide end mill upwards, turning it at the same rate as to follow flutes.

It came out better than i thought.
I was not planing to use it for finishing anyway.

And it lost only 5 thou in diameter after this hack-regrinding.
