3D Printed COVID Respirator Masks

April 6, 2020, 2:24 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Due to the current situation with lack of N95 masks in the stores I resorted to 3D print a pair for me and my wife.

I also made the designs freely available on thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4264883

Here is the description of the project:

High airflow Respirator mask in 3 sizes: Large, Medium and Small.

Large works for a large male face. 125mm height*
Medium for a smaller male face. 115 mm
Small works for a female or a 10 y/o kid face. 105mm height.

*I measure face height from chin to the centre of the nose bridge.)

Designed to take 1 or 2 55mm cotton pads into each of 3 filter housings.
Install filter medium into the bottom of the cap and screw on to the mask body.

Make sure to print 3 caps for each mask as well. Caps are the same for all mask sizes.

Used white window insulation sticky cord on the inside to add cushion and improve insulation.

Had to also use a file and fine sanding paper to make sure the mating surfaces on the mask body are smooth and do not have any air gaps.

Disclaimer: I designed and printed this for me and my family. It has not been tested, and although I designed with safety in mind, I do not claim it can prevent any infections or viruses. Use at your own risk. PLEASE be careful when testing: different cotton pad brands have different density and 2 pads per filter may cause difficulty breathing! Please make sure to remove the filters and sanitize the mask and caps after each use.

The models are designed in Fusion 360.

Parts printed on Creality Ender 3S Printer with the following settings:

  • Layer Thicknss: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 20%
  • Filament Material: PLA
  • First Layer Speed: 35mm/s
  • Wall Speed: 75mm/s
  • Support: everywhere
  • Support Speed 75mm/s
  • Support Density: 1 line at 5%

1 mask plus 3 caps takes about 14 hours to print at: 75mm/s.

Please wash your hands and stay safe.

We will get through this!

HSMAdvisor v1.600 More International Support

April 27, 2019, 8:40 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

You know this is good...

when we bump a whole TENTH in the version number!

This release focused on fixing various small issues blah-blah.

The main news is the HSMAdvisor's Translator Form that can now not only Upload, but also Download languages from the cloud!
Which means you can now download someone's unfinished translation file, use it, add to it (hopefully) and upload it again!

When you download someone else's language file with the same name as yours, only the untranslated lines will be updated.

From this point on I will be adding languages that contain certain percent of coverage to the installation.
Installed languages will also be updated as time goes on.

At this point we have the following list of installed languages available:

  • English (main)
  • French (full)
  • Russian (full)
  • Spanish (almost full)
  • Slovak(partial)
  • Czech (partial)
  • Polish (partial)
  • Turkish (partial)

Huge thanks to everybody who contributed to the translation effort!
So if you did, please contact me if you need any licenses (have your user name handy, so i can identify your work).

By the way, do i need to remind that good things happen to those who contribute?

Keep tuned for more cool updates to come out this spring!

Cheers!

July 31, 2018, 2:52 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

This update marks a major pivot in HSMAdvisor development.

Behind the scenes the groung-work has been laid for tight integration between HSMAdvisor and FSWizard.

  • Fixed issues with acessing CutCloud Fixed labelling and incorrect cut filtering

Thank you, our supporters, for the continuing feedback and support!

Thank you everybody for feedback and support!

FSWizard Machinist Speed and Feed App Update!

March 20, 2018, 7:34 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

After more than a year in development and having its entire code base rewritten FSWizard Android app has finally been released to production!

The main goal of the initial production release was to not drop the ball. So the number of new features is relatively small.

The biggest visible improvement is the new design that conforms to the mobile UI standards.

We also support more materials in the lite version of the app than ever:

For HSMAdvisor customers all the available materials will be downloaded after the Login.

Another improvement is the sliding Speed and Feed overrides that are now located not only on the usual Overrides panel, but also on the Result panel:

This allows you to see the effect your changes make in the real time.

The new version of the app also allows to push immediate updates and hot fixes.
So expect a lot of new features delivered to you faster.

As you might have guessed I did not re-design the whole app just to add a couple of new sliders and a new design.

My plans is to fully integrate FSWizard with HSMAdvisor having them exchange tool libraries and cutting data.
Ant the core design changes that i made will allow for this work to proceed forward.

New FSWizard. Check it out if you have not already!

PS. for now the update is only available for Lite Android version of the app. FSWizard PRO Android and all version for iOS are still sporting old version. But I expect to update them within a week as well.

New Advantage of Floating License

January 25, 2018, 3:06 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

When asked by a prospective customer which License Type a he/she should buy, I always say "If you have Internet connection, buy the Floating License".

The advantage of Floating License for this is very simple: it offers great flexibility.

  • Flexibility in where to use the software: You can install and register computers all on your own without needing to contact support.
  • Floating License can be used on multiple computers. And depending on how many seats are in the license, will determine how many HSMAdvisor instances can run at the same time.

And now we have 2 more points

License owner can set up a separate License Access password.
This allows organisations to give access to their HSMAdvisor seats without compromising their License Accounts.

Second improvement is the "Max Seat Parking Period" option that can be used to make sure users do not occupy seats for periods of time, longer than allowed by the owner.

These options were introduced to make it easy for College professors to issue temporary seats to their students.

You can check it out on our updated License Control panel: https://hsmadvisor.com/?page=user_keys

Just click on the "Set License Password" button after logging in to your license.

Season's Greetings!

December 24, 2017, 11:15 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

I personally would like to wish every one of my supporters Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

I like to consider every sold seat a start of new partnership with the goal of making Your work easier and more productive every day.

New year will bring lots of very cool developments and I am glad, that since all of the licenses we sell never expire, every single on of my customers will be able to enjoy the latest improvements.

Cheers and Have Great Holidays!

Is 3D Printing The FUTURE of Manufacturing?

November 25, 2017, 11:36 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)
photo2_rev2[1].jpg

3D Prining is about to to take over traditional machining the same way CNC Machining took over manual machining.
Eventually 3D printing will replace casting too.

Since 3D Printing does not require complicated setup and programming, this in turn will lead to massive loss of machining-related jobs.

HSMAdvisor hook for MasterCAM 2018

October 30, 2017, 7:55 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)
HSMA_MC2018_SS.jpg

I have just uploaded the HSMAdvisor hook for MasterCAM 2018.

That calls for a drink!

The C++/CRL interop that runs on the back end has been developed over 2 years ago and i have not opened it much since.
Because there were some breaking changes in 2018, i had to reopen the can of worms and ... whew! That was not eazy to remember all the horrible things i have done so long ago ago!

Any way. Now we have a nice lineup of HSMAdvisor plugins for 3 latest MasterCam versions (X9, 2017 and 2018).

New Educational HSMAdvisor Licenses

October 18, 2017, 5:01 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)
IMAG1296.jpg

Ever since we stopped offering free educational licenses, there has been steady demand for either free or discounted license options for colleges and schools.

We could not give out free licenses any longer because they still cost money in hosting and support.

So today after a lot of consideration we decided  to start offering special Educational HSMAdvisor License Package
