3D Printed Enclosure for Touchscreen CNC Control

Since my garage/shop has a limited workspace, I have long wanted to upgrade the big and clumsy computer I used to drive my little Prolight desktop CNC to something more elegant and convenient.

TL;DR: You can read about the printing settings and download files on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4754968
Here is the shared Fusion Project: https://a360.co/36UhI15

After quite a bit of googling, and testing the UCCNC control software that i already have I decided to re-use my old Z83 mini-PC with Intel Atom processor.

Then I ordered a SunFounter 10.1" touchscreen monitor with a nice resolution of 1200x800 from amazon.

Since the display does not come with an enclosure I decided to design one myself.
A good opportunity to dust off my 3d modeling skills:

Is 3D Printing The FUTURE of Manufacturing?

November 25, 2017, 11:36 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

3D Prining is about to to take over traditional machining the same way CNC Machining took over manual machining.
Eventually 3D printing will replace casting too.

Since 3D Printing does not require complicated setup and programming, this in turn will lead to massive loss of machining-related jobs.

HSMAdvisor v0.300 has been released

June 23, 2013, 10:47 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

This release features some pretty major updates and features.

First of all, Tool deflection model has been radically improved over previous versions.
Now model fully considers not only the flute length, but also depth of cut and how it affects deflection!

No other speed and feed calculator alows you to do that.

Calculator now helps getting full advantage of those Hight Axial engagement toolpaths.

New things

  • HSMAdvisor can now print!
For now you can print a screenshot of application window. Make sure to select "Album" layout in your printer settings, otherwise portion of the window may get cut off.
Tool library printing is next in line to be done.
  • User Library Export and Import in XML format is now available.
You can use it to back up your tool library and share library files with others.
  • Library Tabs are now right-clickable by mouse- this allows to right click on the library tab and select desired action like "Delete" "Merge" and "Rename".
  • Speeds for some tool and stainless steels have been revised.
    Couple of materials were added.

Things updated and improved

  • Improved tool deflection model.
  • Improved and fixed machine and tool limits trigering.
  • Creation of new Tool or Cut now forces newly-created tool/cut to get loaded, so you dont have to search it from the drop-down list- it becomes active right away.
  • Viewing and editing of tool/cut info in myCutDB page now does not close opened tool tree.
  • Tool material and Work Material are now a single column. Its called Tool&Work Material and it shows tool material for Tool rows and work material for Cut rows

Stylish and functional Operations and Tooling List confings for SurfCam

July 17, 2012, 11:00 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Tired of printing out Operation lists and then wasting time adding setup information by hand?

There is a neat and easy way to replace standard Operations and Tooling lists with something very compact and usable.

Here are config files i use at my work to create Setup Sheets and tooling lists right from SurfCam.

  1. First make sure you backup you Operations.cfg and Tooling.cfg files in case you want to go back (VERY NOT likely)
Those can be found inside your V5 or V6\Config directory.
  2. Unpack contents of the attached ZIP folder.
  3. Copy .CFG files found within into your V5 or V6\Config folder.
  4. Copy folder "images" into "C:\Surfcam" directory, if you want also tool images to show with tooling list.
  5. Go to SurfCam Options and in section Setup Sheet select "Current" from several other choises.

Thats it!!

UPDATE!!!!!!

  • Operations list NOW highlights table rows when you move the mouse over them.
  • When you select ANY text on Operations List, the same text will be highlighted over the whole page!!!

Download current file below

Samples are below:
