milling C45 annealed condition

Hi,
I am most likely going to buy a copy of the software. First I want to get an idea what it can do for me. I hope it is ok to post a question here. I have a fairly stiff milling machine, sk30 spindle.
The spindle is not so happy running under 10k rpm which is fine as mostly I use small tools. I now have a job where I would like to mill an 18mm diameter hole, 25mm deep into a piece of
C45 as received steel. I have a 16mm 4 flute carbide milling tool. Is it possible to use this tool to make the hole I need? How do I use the hsm calculator to help me...

Hi,

Is this a router?
Hiw much horsepower it has?

You might have a lot of trouble especially considering it does not like to he run at less than 10k

I would try to use a MUCH SMALLER tool than the 16mm you have.

A coated 6 mm for steel could do the job, though.

Punch in your numbers and see what it suggests.

Hi Eldar,
many thanks for your help. I have about 6.5kw power on an sk30 spindle. It is an epoxy composite machine, quite stiff. I played around with it. 16mm was indeed to large for my 10k rpm. With a
10mm 2 flute tool for steel I was able to run the job successfully. I used a helical spiral tool path and your calculator to get in the ballpark - thanks!
