Choosing a Material only listed in the "cross reference"

Hello,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it with a search. I'd like to machine AZ31B, which is a very soft Aluminum/Magnesium alloy. It's not listed in the Material pull down, but it does show up if you search for the "material Cross Reference" (press "more" next to the Materials drop down).

I can't figure out how to select the material from the "Material Cross Reference" screen, when I press OK, it just selects 7075-T6 Aluminum which is twice has hard (150HB vs. ~70HB I believe).

In the meantime, I'll just use A380 cast aluminum, but it would be good to know.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Hello,

The Material Cross Reference dialog currently has more materials than HSMAdvisor supports.

Most of the MCR materials are already mapped to HSMAdisor and you can tell that by them having the "Name" column populated and the font of the row bold.

If a mapping does not yet exist, HSMAdvisor will not be able to find the proper material.

In such a case it's better to stick to material from the same group with comparable hardness.

Okay, thanks Eldar. At least I feel better about not figuring out how to select it :)
