S&F Maxed Out Regardless of Op

I've had this happen on multiple occasions but most of the time it's unclear to me if something is amiss. This time however I am sure something is wrong.

Occasionally, the S&F I get stays maxed out regardless of tool or cutting conditions. In this particular instance, the maxed out S&F I am getting exceeds both my spindle RPM limits, as well as my max RPM for taps.

I've attached a picture showing the S&F page as well as my machine settings. Does anyone know what's up with this?

Sorry to necro this. I haven't had the chance to try out the most recent version until today. I am on v1.706 now and I am still having the issue.

Hi,

What you are showing there is the normal behaviour.

The tool is small, so when SFM converts to RPM, you get machine rpm maxed out.

In case you are wondering if that SFM is OK, I can assure you (with adequate coolant) it will work just fine.

Best regards.

My mistake- That makes sense. I did have this issue on an offset boring head op as well. Is that to be expected? I'm under the impression that offset boring heads aren't to be run at that RPM.

Of course

Same issue as above. The fact that most boring heads do not operate at that kind of RPM does not mean all don't. I used boring heads with 5k limit.

For boring heads it is useful to apply for example 1200 RPM to Max RPM in the Manufacturer Overrides panel.

Generally for softer materials it us worth going as fast as possible with the chip-load that is acceptable for food finish.

Regards.

I was unaware of that feature. Thank you!
