Hello,

In the Tool info dialog, I can enter values for ‘T# L# D#’. What do they mean?

Hi,

Those are just tool/offset numbers for reference and sorting:

T# - Tool Number
D# - Tool Radius/Diameter Offset
L# - Tool Length Offset

These values are also important for CAM integration.

Hi,

Basically that is the chip load based on Tool Type, Workpiece and Tool Material before cut parameters (Chipt thinning, WOC, etc) were applied.

Reference Chip load is what you can edit in the "Manufacturer Overrides"

I'd like to setup "Custom Tables" for my endmill "Manufacturer Speeds and Feeds" with "Reference Chip loads" that force equal (or fixed proportional) cutting chip loads that are independent of the Workpiece material type. Can that be done?

Hello,

You can (sort of) do this If you leave the custom Chip load and SFM for a material as default and set the custom parameters to the Material Group instead.

Material Groups are marked in the list by a group number.

There is no way to set the custom overrides for all materials at once. Only to groups and materials.

Alternatively you can just create a tool in the DB and save its Speed and Feed overrides % to whatever you want. Those apply proportionally to all materials.

No. Cut parameters are always specific to the current material and basically saved as-is.
That is their function.

Yeah, but an End Mill has flutes!
Fluted portion is considered to be weaker.
Plus there is x2 safety factor. So 1 ft-lb is actually 2 ft-lb as calculated and then reduced by a factor of 2.
