Mill configuration for Pulley/Belt spindle RPM - SW will not allow me to set both Power & Torque for each RPM in table

I'm just starting with HSM Advisor. I have an old BenchMaster Mill that has a belt & pulley system to change spindle RPM. When configure the software for my mill I put in the Max power for the 1/3 HP motor as well as max torque and max, min RPM's. Then I go fill in the table for each spindle RPM possible. For each line I enter in the RPM, then Power, then Torque. After putting in the torque value the SW reduces my power figure I just entered previously by close to one tenth of my original figure. Is this right??

Since my motor is always running 100% (no PWM), I would think that each table entry should have the full motor HP for each RPM entry and ONLY the torque value changes due to the pulley ratio. How can I correctly enter this table? OR is it recalculating the value for some other reason.

I want to make sure I have this setup correctly so I get some meaningful feed speeds back.

Hi,

You only have to enter HP values (1/3hp for each RPM setting).

Do not worry about the torque because it will be recalculated automatically depending on the RPM and HP you just entered.

Wouldn't the torque curve be significantly different if one used a motor that was PWM controlled vs. one that was speed controlled with belt and pulleys? There is not enough information for the software to determine which it is. Just trying to dial this thing in the best i can....

The cases where spindle speed is controlled by software or the motor RPM change, require a complex power graph.
Usually there is 2 ranges: one with constant torque and one with constant HP.

When RPM is constant and spindle speed is changed by switching pulleys or belts, you get constant HP at any spindle speed with watever torque that comes up with.

Check the existing machine definitions for examples.
