FSWizard:Online Beta!

June 22, 2017, 4:39 pm

The new FSWizard mobile Beta was just released for everybody to try.

This was mostly done for my self to easily test it on different computers, mobile devices and browsers.
Some of the features do not yet work. Others work better than in the old version. Basically excercise caution when using it.

The number of materials is still limited to a couple of test peices and will be expanded later.

Oh, almost forgot!

I was able to secure FSWizard.com to host the re-designed calculator!

This is now going to become the new official home of FSWizard Online and Mobile calculator!

You can check it out right now and forward to me your concerns and wishes :)

Improved FSWizard is coming!

January 23, 2017, 1:41 am

Check this out, guys.

Been working on this for the past couple of weeks:

New FSWizard Speeds and Feeds Calc will have not only modern improved design. But latest tools and materials.
Special attention is being paid to have it produce EXACTLY the same results as our HSMAdvisor desktop app.

It is not complete yet, but it is almost there - making it catch up to the latest HSMAdvisor code is a big job.

The new calculator will replace our online calculator as well.....

Yes, you heard that right! You will be able to run exactly the same FSWizard Speed and Feed calc on your mobile phone, desktop and even Windows Mobile.

Heck, it will even work on Mac!

Best of all, it will be published as an update to our existing apps, so our existing customers will not have to buy an upgrade, unlike what some other "Machinist Calculator" has done in the past.

I will keep you posted.

Cheers!

I have been working hard to improve not only HSMAdvisor lately, but FSWizard Mobile CNC Machinist App too!

The latest update improves productivity, speed, fixes a lot of small glitches.
And it also adds a completely new GD&T reference tab to both the FSWizard Free and PRO apps.

Update: FSWizard PRO and Free apps have just been approved by the iTunes and are available on the AppStore!

FSWizard:Mobile 1.47

March 29, 2016, 9:43 am

There have been reports of troubles our FSWizard users were having after updating to Android 6.0

I issued some hotfixes before but they did not help.

So I would like to announce that with the latest update all the problems have been fixed. There were also minor updates in the UI, but nothing major.

Cheers!

FSWizard 1.40 Released

February 14, 2015, 10:47 pm

I have just finished uploading the latest update for FSWizard apps to both iOS and Android stores.

Your iOS update should be available in about 3 to 5 days, while it is already available on Google Play.

As always my thanks go to Apple for killing 90% of my day on trying to find and fix stupid xCode quirks.
Thanks, apple guys! I wouldn't know what to do with all of my time if your stuff worked the way it was supposed to!

Here are just some of the changes in the latest version v1.40

  • Added new materials
  • Fixed Turning MRR/HP Calculation
  • Fixed Sticky Lead Angle
  • Changed WOC label in Turning mode to DOC

First FSWizard video!

January 17, 2015, 5:43 pm

I have just uploaded my first FSWizard CNC MAchinists Speed and Feed Calculator video tutorial.

This is a quick walk through the basic functionality when using milling tools.

Please excuse my tired voice and occasional stuttering. This was my 9th take- every time either my computer crashed or i was interrupted by my kids running around and causing mess.

I am planning to release more videos. So please let me know what other topics i need to cover.

Amid the huge amount of work that has been put lately into development of HSMAdvisor and FSWizard Speed and Feed Calculators, I have completely forgot to mention something important.

Since version 1.37 iOS (as well as Android) version of FSWizard Lite Mobile calculator can be "unlocked" and upgraded to the full PRO version for free!

For that, you need to purchase an eligible License Package from our HSMAdvisor Online Store and follow these steps to enable the PRO features on your Android or iOS device: FSWizard PRO Bundled with HSMAdvisor

I have recently published an update for both Android and Iphone versions.

Mainly i have fixed radial chip thinning for ballnose endmills.

I also added Axial, Radial and Compound Chip Thinning factors display in both cut depth/width panel, as well as Result panel.

So now you can see how parameters, you are entering, are affecting your thinning factors.

Observe the attached screenshots and download the update it you have not already!

Cheers!

An interesting conversation

July 12, 2014, 11:32 pm

A few days ago one of FSwizard:PRo users questioned me over how FSwizard works.

The way SFM calculates seemed off to him.

As a result i made a quick sketch for him, that i thought i would share here.

Omar was asking me how come SFM seemed wrong for a 1" dia ball-nose cutter when making shallow depth cuts.

The sketch above shows exactly why.

On the left part we see a cutter engaged into the material to the depth equal to its corner radius.
At that depth the maximum effective diameter is achieved. So an old good RPM=4xSFM/Dia formula would apply.

But at shallower depths, effective diameter of the cutter is reduced.

At 0.1" depth of cut, effective diameter would only be around 0.6"

In fact it goes to zero at the very centre. So a higher RPM will be required to achieve the recommended cutting speed.

In the same thread i also explained how DOC/WOC balancing works.

So if you are interested - read on.

Here is the thread http://zero-divide.net/index.php?page=forums&shell_id=170&article_id=4590
